broken exe association windows 7 unable to load utorrent .exe invalid torrent file system restore
Easy Free Fix For Broken EXE Association and FIX other VIRUS problems
If you suddenly can't open any programs, and their icons have gone white, blank, or changed to another program's icon, you might have a broken .exe association (the icon no longer associates with the executable file, as I understand it).
Anyway, no matter. I found the easiest fix in the world for this and other viruses in Windows 7.
Some people say to start messing with the registry - um.... only if you really HAVE to. That's really complicated and I actually made my other computer worse after messing with the registry. Be careful messing with registries! Soon I couldnt turn on the computer and the hard drive was corrupted, too!
Rather than mess with registries, why not just do a system restore? Oh, right, because your exe files are corrupt, and so you can't run a system restore. Or some other virus made it so you can't run system restore?
Please try these steps below, BEFORE you mess with your registry, or any other weird patches or things. By the way, see my HUB on how to access a browser page if your internet explorer stopped working, since when you get a virus like this, it will likely make IE inoperable. But even after my own .exe files stopped working, I could access the internet using this trick.
System Restore in Safe Boot Up
Restore your system to repair the virus
Do a System Restore in Windows 7
Step 1) RESTART your computer
Step 2) PRESS f8 (little key above your number 8 key) while the system is starting up, press it on and off numerous times until you see the black and white screen appear (shown in photo)
Step 3) USE ARROW KEYS to scroll down to "Repair Computer" and hit "Enter" (it will say something like "windows is gathering files")
Step 4) CHOOSE a language and click "Next"
Step 5) ENTER your log in password, click "Next" or hit enter, whatever gets you to the next screen
Step 6) Now, an AWESOME utilities tool will pop up! You can get to a command box, or other options. But first, just try CLICKING on "SYSTEM RESTORE" (the second option)
Step 7) Choose a restore date (choose a date in time BEFORE you got your virus!). Click on it, follow all instructions on the screen from here on out.
Step 8) WAIT a lonnnnnng time (takes a long time to restore!)
And yay! your exe associations should be restored, your files will be intact, etc etc.
NOW DONT FORGET TO DELETE AND DESTROY OR NEVER DOWNLOAD AGAIN WHATEVER GAVE YOU THE VIRUS!
