Location of the Sleep Button on an HP mini 1000
THE SLEEP BUTTON
Where is the Sleep Button on a Mini HP 1000?
If you're like me, you went in and changed your power settings then wondered "where is the sleep button on the mini HP?"
It took a lot of experimenting pushing all of the buttons, but I found it.
HOW TO FIND THE SLEEP BUTTON:
Look at the top left of your keyboard. In the "F keys" you will see on f1, a small "moon" in gray or blue. That symbolizes the sleep key. The sleep "button" isn't really a button, it's a key.
Below, find out how to use the Sleep Button and how to choose what it does when you press it.
fn KEY
HOW TO USE THE SLEEP BUTTON
1) LOCATE the "fn key." It is a small key usually at the bottom left of your keyboard. It is likely in blue or gray. The fn key allows you to access the functions on the "f" keys which are in blue or gray. So in other words, if you see a little speaker in blue, you can turn the volume up and down using that key + the fn key.
2) PRESS the FN KEY
3)NOW PRESS THE SLEEP BUTTON (KEY) AT THE SAME TIME
If you did it right, and you went into your power options and changed the sleep button to "hibernate" when pressed, then you should have just made your computer hibernate and had to turn it on again to see these words.
You can use this FN Key and press it while pressing other buttons with blue or gray symbols, and experiment with what these functions do.
*NOTE - if your computer did not hibernate, it is because in the MINI HP (WINDOWS XP) you have to activate the computer's ability to hibernate.
Click here to learn how to enable hibernation
and choose what you want your computer to do when you press the sleep button.
The sleep button is great, but now that I've found it, I personally feel its much easier just to set your computer to hibernate once you close the lid. That way you can close and go, no looking for or finding keys or buttons.
